Principal Responsibilities:

FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay Rate (Hourly): $18.00/hour

Job Summary: The Year-Round Group Leader is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate learning experience for the children in their care. Group leaders engage with children, plan and run activities, understand and follow licensing and sanitation standards, maintain an engaging and safe learning environment, and model appropriate behavior for children and junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Principal Responsibilities
- Provide constant/appropriate supervision of a group of 10-25 school age children, and take care of their welfare, health and safety
- Engage in positive, developmentally appropriate interactions with children while setting appropriate boundaries, providing active listening, problem solving, and positive redirection
- Write curriculum that meets children's needs and interests through a Jewish lens
- Foster strong classroom community by helping children develop empathy and conflict resolution skills
- Maintain the classroom space to provide safe and engaging learning opportunities that encourage children's participation and comply with licensing and sanitation requirements
- Ensure compliance with all current NC and DCDEE guidelines within the classroom and outdoors
- Participate in JCC All Staff Meetings
- Attend any required in-service trainings on an annual basis
- All childcare staff are required to participate in professional development, ranging from 5-20 hours, depending on education level, as well as required trainings (BSAC, CPR/First Aid, RRSCM)
- Model appropriate behavior for children, junior staff, and new Group Leaders
- Respect for and implementation of JCC values and mission
- Willingness and ability to learn and teach through a Jewish lens
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to learn and maintain proper North Carolina childcare licensing and sanitation laws/regulation
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with children, parents, and peers
- Ability to plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities for children and incorporate Jewish values when possible
- Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience
- Experience supervising children in a group setting, preferred
- Experience in Jewish studies, preferred
- Certifications
- NC Qualifying Letter (required before start date)
- Required Documents
- TB Screening and/or Test (required before start date)
- Medical Report (required before start date)
- Ability to be actively moving for most of the day
- Walk 1-mile round trip daily

Salary:
$35,000 - $45,000
