Principal Responsibilities:
The Stamford JCC Performing Arts Department is seeking passionate and talented individuals to join our dance faculty as lead instructors, assistants, and substitute teachers. Styles of instruction include Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, and Creative Movement. Additional styles of expertise welcomed! Applicants must have a passion for working with children, with strong skills in choreography and direction. The Stamford JCC provides a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all people - applicants from all backgrounds are welcome!
Minimum Qualifications:
Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging dance classes that foster joy while working towards the goal of technical advancement at an age-appropriate level
- Choreograph and teach original material for Performing Arts recitals and productions
- Assist the Directors of Performing Arts with special tasks in support of upcoming productions, Recitals, and Special Events
- Attend Performing Arts Events
- Create & record content for posts on Social Media
- Other duties as assigned by Directors of Performing Arts, Senior Director of Programming, and JCC CEO
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of one year of successful teaching experience in dance, or experience student teaching in a university.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred, or 3 + years of professional dance experience
- A strong background in dance technique, 10+ years of training
- May be required to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, as programming calendar, recitals, and special events require.
- Must be able to collaborate & communicate well with a team
- Ability to liaise in a professional manner with parents and students
Salary:
- $55/hr for lead instruction
- $25/hr for assisting
- $20/hr for any required work outside of the classroom such as staff meetings and dress rehearsals
