Job description
Founded in 1941, the Jewish Educational Center (JEC) is a vibrant community institution located in Elizabeth, New Jersey that includes a yeshiva day school serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grades, multiple synagogues, as well as a day-care, summer camp and other community activities through its affiliation with the YM-YWHA of Union County. We are seeking a full-time HR Generalist to support a variety of responsibilities including onboarding, benefits, compliance and payroll.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements
- Facilitate the on-boarding process of new employees
- Create and maintain employee personnel records
- Time and attendance management
- Payroll administration
- Coordinate open enrollments and changes to employee benefits programs
- Administer Workers Compensation and Disability Claims
- Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management
- Respond to human resources-related inquiries
- Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies
- Other tasks and job functions as may be assigned to support the ongoing operations of the institution
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor Degree or Equivalent
- 3-5 years of progressive HRexperience
- Extensive working knowledge of general HR practices, policies, and procedures
- Broad working knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations governing employment policies and practices
- Payroll Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and payroll software
- Ability to exercise integrity and sound judgment in complex and sensitive situations
- Organized and detailed oriented
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate information both written and oral
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Work well independently and as part of a team
Salary:
$55,000 - $65,000
