Principal Responsibilities:

Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Salary Range: $42,000 - $48,000 with competitive benefits package

The Bookkeeper serves on the finance team under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, provides support in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank deposits, vendor relations, month-end close, year-end reporting, and other administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

General Accounting

• Prepare and enter journal entries.
• Prepare bank deposits.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Process all credit card purchase requests.
• Assist with month-end and year-end processing.
• Assist with audit as needed.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Assist with other projects as needed.

Account Payable

• Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
• Answers all vendor inquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
• Maintains all accounts payable files.
• Communicates with co-workers, management, and others regarding purchases.
• Process all Purchase Order requests.

Accounts Receivable

• Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Review membership accounts monthly and follow up on past due balances.
• Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, and payment history.
• Perform day to day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivable data
• Prepares invoices and monthly statements for membership and our newspaper, Jewish Rhode Island.
• Assist departments with registrations for all programs.
• Manage the finances for all programs of the Israel Desk, including Gift of Israel.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with the Alliance's core values and a clear commitment to them.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects. Strong organizational skills.
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work closely with others in a team environment and effectively interact with all levels of management, community leaders, donors, and volunteers.
• One to two years of book keeping experience.

Salary:

$45,000 - $55,000
