Principal Responsibilities:
Sid Jacobson JCC and its surrounding campus, the Bernice Jacobson Day School and Camp provide a full range of cutting-edge recreational, health, fitness, educational, cultural arts, and social services programs. We are a national leader in providing care for those suffering from chronic illnesses such as Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, and other degenerative illness, as well as offering year-round social, recreational, fitness, and vocational programs for children, teens, and adults living with special needs. In addition, we are Long Island's hub that addresses social justice, uses social action to better our society, and provides volunteers with the opportunity to give back.

We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to work in the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center. This position is in Nassau County, Long Island.
Our ideal candidate will be kind-hearted, caring, patient, and possess strong interpersonal skills, which includes the ability to effectively relate and communicate with our program participants. He/she/They will be a team player, self-starter and interested in working to improve the lives of cancer survivors.
How You'll Help Us Be Successful:
- In collaboration with the director, promote, plan and implement programs and events through careful planning and scheduling, material preparation, evaluation/reporting and professional delivery and presentation
- Assist with outreach to the community with an online presence as well as going into the community to promote the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center
- Update database reflecting the community resources, doctor's offices and cancer organizations. Maintains up to date resource registry to be used when assisting clients in need of services within the community
- Prepare, manage and evaluate reporting systems and create new tracking sheets as needed. Prepare, complete and collate attendance lists from different programs and classes. Track units of service that will be applied for used in reporting for grants and to the board of directors of the JCC
- Prepare and send emails to clients regarding educational workshops and assist clients with on-line registration for programs
- Search for research and grant opportunities
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
What You'll Need To Be Successful:
- A minimum of one-year experience supporting cancer survivors or vulnerable populations
- Communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, and ability to speak, read and write effectively
- Ability to maintain a high confidentiality and exercise discretion when discussing clients
- Demonstrate detail and organizational orientation
- Exhibit patience, initiative, enthusiasm, adaptability, resourcefulness
- Reliable and team player
- Able to effectively develop documents and charts
- Good oral and written communication skills required
- Excellent organizational and skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to develop solutions to problems
- Demonstrate competencies with technology, Microsoft suite, google docs, excel, Outlook, Zoom, social media platforms
- Ability to adjust to changing deadlines in a dynamic environment and exhibit the ability to work sensitively and confidentially when dealing with staff and clients
- Ability to work with diverse groups and businesses; ability to speak effectively before groups
- Ability to keep clients confidentiality
