Principal Responsibilities:


KJFS seeks an energetic, compassionate, and detail-oriented case worker to manage Refugee Health Screening. This program works with newly arrived refugees, Special Immigrant Visa holders, Afghan and Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolees, to coordinate timely medical screening and appropriate care for each arrival during their first three months in the U.S.

The Refugee Health Screening Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of medical screening delivery and orientation to the US Health Care System for newcomer families. They will ensure appointments are made, that client attend appointments, and help clients orient to MaineCare reimbursed transportation systems and public transportation. They will also ensure that all required follow up services are received. This involves working closely with area providers to coordinate and support appropriate health related services on a time-sensitive basis. The Refugee Resettlement Program is a hands-on, detailed, and time-bound program. The Refugee Health Screening Coordinator will be responsible for complete and thorough case noting and documentation of services provided.

The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Salary and Benefits: This position reports to HIAS Refugee Resettlement Manager Siobhan Whalen, and the job is .75 FTE (30 hours per week), at $27 per hour. The position is exempt. The JCA offers a competitive benefits package that includes partial contribution toward individual health insurance, employer paid short and long-term disability and life insurance, and generous paid time off. Programmatic discounts are also available. The holiday schedule will follow the JCA preschool, and includes several Jewish holidays as well as Federal Holidays when they fall during regularly scheduled work time.
