Principal Responsibilities:

PAY RATE/STATUS: $25.00 per hour / Full-time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal, July-August

As one of the largest Summer day camp providers in San Diego, the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center is hiring Camp Manager for an off-site satellite camp we are running from July 19, 2023- August 11, 2023, in North County at Thibodo Park & Ranch House. The Camp Manger work schedule will be Monday- Friday, within the hours of 8:00am- 5:30pm.

Under the supervision of the Director of Strategic Outreach, the Camp Manager will assist the Director of Strategic Outreach in the management and operation of the JCC satellite camp ("Camp Jeighborhood"). The Camp Manager is responsible for the development and oversight of a high-quality camp program that meets the needs and interests of the campers, while staying in alignment with the beliefs and values of the JCC. The Camp Manager oversees the daily operations of the camp, and directly supervises Camp Counselors. The Camp Manager is responsible for providing support and direction to camp staff, ensuring program implementation runs efficiently and effectively. The Camp Manager will play a major role in all camp communication, facilitate staff training, and activities and coordination between other camps. The incumbent in this role will be responsible for supervising and coaching staff on a daily and weekly basis, handling any issues that may arise, and providing timely communication. The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience in camping, supervision and scheduling. They must be adaptable, willing to handle high stress situations, and have strong customer service and organizational skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• At least 18 years of age.
• Previous experience working in a camp leadership role a plus.
• At least 2 years of experience working with children required.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Must complete camp training.
• Ability to use good, sound judgment to handle emergency situations.
• Must be able to physically and mentally engage in all camp activities.
• Exhibit characteristics of leadership, responsibility, patience, dependability, maturity, integrity, ability to work independently, and display a positive attitude.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to participate in all physical activities with participants (such as running, playing sports, leading games and crafts).
• Frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms for long periods of time.
• Occasional lifting, pulling, climbing, kneeling, crawling and bending.
• Ability to work in both an indoor and outdoor environment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 lbs. (reconfiguring furniture, moving equipment/supplies, etc.)
• Ability to perform CPR/AED.
