Principal Responsibilities:

The Dave & Mary Alper JCC, South Miami Dade's inclusive Jewish community building, education and wellness organization, is seeking dynamic Parent Ambassadors to spark connections between families raising Jewish children in their neighborhood, and to create welcoming and inclusive programs.

Parent Ambassadors will nurture relationships among families, create new, low-barrier Jewish experiences, and provide inspired Jewish content to families. These connections will be facilitated through a variety of channels, including one-on-one coffee meetups, small-scale family gatherings, Jewish holiday celebrations, story time events and more at playgrounds, pools, parks and other venues.

This part-time position is flexible and offers a chance to welcome and connect all kinds of families raising Jewish children. They will be ready to carry forward our mission of building a robust, connected and relevant Jewish community in South Miami Dade. The Ambassador should be someone who loves creating innovative Jewish educational experiences, connecting with people and partner organizations, managing relationships, and executing large and small gatherings.

We are seeking Parent Ambassadors in any of the following neighborhoods:

Kendall

Pinecrest

Palmetto Bay

South Miami/Coral Gables

A Parent Ambassador is:

Someone who lives in or near one of the above neighborhoods

A passionate ambassador for the Alper JCC

Excited to meet, welcome, and get to know parents

An excellent communicator and listener, and excels at relationship building

Passionate about Jewish life, and excited to infuse Jewish themes into programs

Interested in facilitating and participating in new opportunities for peers to meet each other

Self-motivated, curious and open to new ideas

Familiar with online communication outlets for parents in their community

Able to work independently, as well as part of a team

Knowledgeable about the local community's parent resources, both within and outside of the Jewish

Community. Knows where parents can be found in their neighborhood on a given day of the week.

Understanding and respectful of the range of Jewish connection and knowledge among parents


Parent Ambassador Responsibilities:

Create and implement approximately two activities/gatherings per month (e.g. meet ups at a playground, informal playgroup, library story time, home-hosted series, parents' night, etc.)

Deepen connections with families through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, personal emails and social media

Participate in an orientation session, followed by bi-monthly calls with the JFamily Parent Ambassador cohort, as well as at least monthly supervision calls

Collect and maintain contact information for program participants

Submit monthly reports to your Alper JCC supervisor

Support larger Alper JCC programs as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Position requirements:

Available to work flexible schedule including weekends

Able to represent the Dave and Mary Alper JCC in a professional manner at all times

Must be able to provide own transportation to events

Physical Requirements:

Flexibility to bend, sit, and/or squat,

The ability to walk distances and be on your feet for multiple hours at a time,

The ability to spend time outside in the elements include heat and rain,

Good dexterity and vision for computer usage,

The ability to lift 20 lbs. on a regular basis,

The ability to lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis,

The ability to lift, set-up, takedown, stack, and move carts of tables and chairs,

Work in bent, twisted or awkward work posture and stand for more than two hours in a row,

The ability to reach both outward and overhead

A JFamily Parent Ambassador will be paid at a rate of $10 per hour and will be expected to work approximately

10 hours/week.
