JCC Chicago's Youth Social Worker is an integral member of the Social Services Team and will partner with various agency departments throughout the year including Early Childhood, Teens, Day Camp, Camp Chi, and J at School. This professional will be the primary mental health expert and trainer on site at our Apachi Rogers Park Day Camp and will supervise other Apachi Day Camp social workers during the summer. During the school year, the Youth Social Worker will primarily support our child and teen populations.
Together with the Camp Directors, the Youth Social Worker will develop and provide ongoing trainings and resources for all Apachi Day Camp staff on topics related to child development and the social-emotional needs of the children. This professional will work with the camp leadership team to plan and coordinate age-appropriate routines, schedules, and activities. They will work with staff to build their capacity to identify and support children experiencing challenging emotions and behaviors and will work directly with children and families to address interpersonal group dynamics, bullying, conflict resolution skills, and more.
Throughout the school year, a primary focus of this role will be to provide mental health guidance, support, and expanded programming to our teen population as well as trainings and consultations to their staff and other departments as needed.
