Principal Responsibilities:

Shorefront YM-YWHA is seeking an experienced, multilingual Social Worker to engage community members in South Brooklyn. Our new funding stream focuses on proactively helping individuals and families expand their successful acquisition of public benefits for which they are eligible but have not been able to acquire or sustain. The successful candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and independent worker, and have fluency in English and Russian or Spanish.

Principal Responsibilities:

• The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct social services to low-income individuals and families from predominantly immigrant households where mostly Russian is the language of communication. The role will include but not be limited to:
• Conducting case assessments and management of services needed.
• Application/recertification for public benefits and entitlements, housing support, information and referral, crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, translation, service collaboration, and coordination with outside agencies.
• Conducting regular follow-up to ensure that participants' needs are met.
• Meeting government and philanthropic contractual requirements related to service units and reporting expectations.
• Maintaining comprehensive case records, statistics, and other required information and documents; prepare/assist with reports.
• Participating in community-building efforts; conducting outreach and community education; collaborating with volunteers.
• Planning and assisting with community events and activities as needed.
• Working with other departments at the agency on joint programming, program development and implementation. Coordinate programming with partner organizations.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA in social work or related educational discipline minimum requirement. MSW preferred.
• Prior social service/case management experience preferred.
• Fluency in English and Russian necessary.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral skills, computer competence, time management, and multitasking skills necessary.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience and interest in working with older adults.
• Casework experience and public benefits knowledge preferred.

Salary:

$55,000 - $65,000
