Principal Responsibilities:
To ensure the success of the Early Childhood Department, the Supervisor will work with the Director of Early Childhood Education (DECE) and the Assistant Director (ADECE) to ensure that early childhood programs run effectively. The Libbie Cowan Childcare Centre and the Thomas & Marjorie Schwartz Preschool Centre are programs of excellence for children from 18 months through Junior Kindergarten.With a strong focus on inclusion and informed by ELECT, How Does Learning Happen and the JCC Association Sheva framework, the Supervisor will collaborate with educators to provide developmentally appropriate programming for the children in our program.
Changes due to Covid-19 Pandemic:
- staff may be designated to stay with ill children in an isolation room until parents or caregivers come for their child. Staff will be equipped with masks, visors, gloves and a smock to ensure the health and safety of the staff.
- staff will disinfect any surfaces touched by child in isolation room immediately after child leaving
- staff will disinfect bathroom surfaces (sink and toilet) after it has been used by a child
- staff schedules will fluctuate during this period. Regular work hours may not apply.
Schedule:
- 37.5 hours per week, Full Time, Year Round.
- Due to the hours of operation of the Early Childhood Department, the ECE Supervisor must be available to work a variety of different shifts. Occasional evenings will be required to attend staff meetings and other professional development.
- Implementing the J's Vision, Mission and Values and the Director's vision and objectives for the early childhood programs aligned with the Program Statement, ensuring compliance at all times with Ministry licensing requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
- The Supervisor is a direct link and liaison between the ECE Director, TMSPC and LCCC parents, TMSPC and LCCC teachers, Finance, Marketing and other departments.
- Be the primary point of contact for the TMSPC and LCCC staff for day-to-day operation of the program.The Supervisor will be a contact for TMSPC and LCCC children and families.
- Help develop and maintain programming to enhance the cultural, educational, physical, mental, and social well-being of JCC early childhood participants.
- Training of staff, assisting teachers with program planning and ensuring classrooms meet or exceed licensing requirements
- Liaising with outside resources, when necessary, i.e., speech, occupational therapists, etc.
- Lifting of young children/furniture when necessary
- Assisting the classroom educators with any routines or needs of children, when necessary, i.e., diapering, rest periods, transitions, etc.
- May be required to assist in classrooms in order to meet ratios
- Adhere to allotted budget restrictions and ensure fiscal management by being familiar with the ECE Department budget

Salary and Benefits:
- $46,000 to $50,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to legally work in Canada/for the MNjcc
- Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience working in an early childhood setting
- Clear/no relevant information from a VSS check
- Ability to legally work in Canada/Ontario/for the MNjcc
- Current RECE and member in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario or currently registered in an accredited ECE program leading to an RECE
- Must be up to date on all required immunizations including have required COVID-19 vaccinations
- Current Standard First Aid- level C with CPR and AED certification
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and be flexible
- Must be a team player and be able to effectively collaborate with DECE and the ADECE as well as other MNjcc staff
- Strong administrative skills, including proficiency with Outlook, WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, accounting admin and software
- Excellent command of English language both oral and written
Salary:
$46,000-$50,000
