On November 19, 2020, the Boards of Directors of the Sabes JCC in Minneapolis and the St. Paul JCC in St. Paul, voted to authorize the creation of a combined JCC with multiple locations effective January 1, 2021. This vote was the culmination of four years of exploration, where the St. Paul JCC and Sabes JCCs worked together to create a vision and path for the future, building upon our shared Jewish values and cultures, and emphasizing serving others, inclusivity, community, mutual respect, excellence and innovation.
A JCC Steering Committee, co-chaired by the board presidents and comprised of leaders from both the Minneapolis and St. Paul communities, worked to intimately understand the important legacies of each JCC, including the wonderful foundation that the JCCs are built upon.
The Minnesota JCC creates a vision and path for the future, providing new opportunities for growth and sustainability to reach more people, provide more programming and services, and to build upon what the JCCs do best. Building upon the JCCs shared Jewish values and cultures, the combined JCC continues to serve our entire community with an emphasis on serving others, inclusivity, community, mutual respect, excellence, and innovation.
The combined JCC includes two independent non-profit organizations. The Minnesota JCC operates all of the JCC programs and services at both Centers in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The Minnesota JCC Foundation, with the sole purpose of supporting the JCC, oversees the management and allocation of JCC invested funds and real estate assets.
