General Position Summary
The Summer Camp Director will be responsible for the administration, management, and expansion of a variety of Summer Camp. He/She is to serve as a member of the JCC's professional staff team and functions in consonance with the total LJCC program offerings across the organization during their seasonal contract, which is estimated to be approximately March through August.
The Summer Camp Director is responsible for creating, planning, programming, selling, implementing, improving, and expanding of high-quality and diverse Summer Camp. The Director will assist in the development and implementation of plans for Summer Camp.
Manage and operate all elements of Summer Camp program. Manage and operate Summer Camp staff, including CIT program and schedule. Design and implement all Summer Camp program requirements. Manage and fully coordinate field trips. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, training, managing performance, and terminating Summer Camp staff.
Contacts are made with others both inside and outside of the LJCC. Fulfill the needs of our members and guests by providing services on-site through the use of phone, electronic, and face-to-face interactions. Treat all youth, members, guests, and staff with respect and professionalism and ensure the everyone is treated equitably and fairly. Must be able to handle confidential/sensitive information of our members and guests with the utmost discretion.
Experience and Education
A proven, progressive track record of experience running a day camp. Experience with creating Summer Camp program elements that align with youth development standards and pedagogies Experience with building out Summer Camp program, including identifying targets, testing financial validity, conducting outreach, and implementing improvements. Experience with leading diverse youth and creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. Qualified candidate must be able to multi-task effectively, have strong communication skills, great customer service, passion for helping others. Professionalism, reliability, ability to problem solve under pressure, and ability to operate independently with trustworthy judgement are necessary to perform successfully as Summer Camp Director.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field. At least 3-5 years experience required in Summer Camp program management. Must have or obtain required DHR background check and training. Must have or be willing to obtain American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification.
Have ability to be flexible and adapt quickly and effectively. Frequent interruptions may occur. Evenings and weekend work will be required intermittently. Some holiday work may be required. Maintain a clean cut and professional appearance.
