The Sports and Recreation Director reports to the COO and is responsible for the smooth operation and facilitation of all sports, leagues and physical recreational programs at the Jewish Community Alliance for ages preschool to adult. This includes but is not limited to the supervision and management of floor activities, tennis and pickleball activities and special event programs. A minimum of 25% of time is to be designated as hands-on, direct teaching service.
To be responsible for the total development of a sports and recreational program utilizing our gymnasium to its maximum capacity. This includes creating, developing and implementing programming.
To supervise and motivate professional staff in recreation, pickleball and tennis programs to create and initiate innovative programs.
To lead the Maccabi program and fill the role of delegation head for the annual JCC Maccabi Games.
To develop and manage a departmental budget that is realistic and meets the needs of our members.
To communicate with other staff, lay leaders and members, in an effective and positive manner.
To be responsible for all written correspondence and publicity involving said responsibilities including articles, press releases and letters that are necessary to the functioning of the department. This is to be done in coordination with the Marketing Department.
To manage, train, supervise and evaluate staff so that all JCA policies are implemented fairly and consistently.
To ensure the safe and clean operation of all equipment and areas of the Physical Education wing to provide a positive experience for our members.
To work collaboratively with other team members in all aspects of program design, policy and implementation, and in building supervision, scheduling and acting as Manager on Duty (MOD), to ensure optimal success of all aspects of Agency operation.
To keep abreast of the current trends and innovations in the field, participate in conferences and write for professional publications to elevate the credibility of the department and Agency.
To monitor and work with housekeeping and maintenance on the cleanliness, normal operation and safe maintenance of locker rooms, gym, pool areas, tennis courts, etc.
To oversee the purchasing of supplies and materials for pickleball, tennis and gym activities including approval of purchase orders.
To oversee the payroll process and preparation for aquatics, tennis and gym activities.
