Principal Responsibilities:

Weekend and evening position.

This team member will participate in the upkeep, renovation, repairs and improvements to all the Jewish Community Center's physical properties.


Knowledge of mechanical working of building components and equipment including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, HVAC, pool repairs, and hydraulic systems
 Ability to manage priorities
 Ability to communicate with staff, colleagues, vendors
 Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks
 Ability to consistently deliver quality customer service
 Ability to read, understand and follow basic operating instructions
 Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner
 Must have the ability to enforce all facility rules and policies in a gentle but firm manner to people of all ages
 Be available for on-call duty as necessary

 Snow removal equipment including a blower, spreader, plow and dump truck
 Lawn equipment including blowers, mowers, trimmer, and sprayers
 Power tools
 Aerial Lift

 Ability to push/pull/lift up to 75 pounds
 Ability to sit, stand, bend, crawl, stoop, reach or walk for extended periods of time
 Must be comfortable working alone or with group/team
 Must be comfortable on ladder, roof, or at heights above ground

 Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, vibration
 Exposure to weather conditions
 Exposure to loud noises, specifically around machinery

 Recognize, maintain and fully utilize all personal protective equipment in order to perform all job duties.
Member Services
 Create a warm, welcoming and safe environment for all members, guests, and staff
 Prepare facilities for reservation/event/program requests when necessary
 Ensure tables/chairs are clean for reservation/event/program

Facility Management:
Make adjustments and minor repairs/replacements to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems. Maintain building components to manufacturer's specifications
Maintain building security protocols
Perform site safety inspections as directed, making recommendations wherever appropriate; ensure insurance/risk management compliance and adherence to federal, state, OSHA and other regulations
Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers and snow shovels and spread snow melting chemicals
 Following specific opening/closing procedures for the building
Thorough walk-through of building and grounds for cleanliness and safety. Perform emergency repairs or cleaning services as needed

 Be familiar with programs and activities through Center
 Attend department and team meetings as required
 Attend conferences/seminars/workshops for ongoing continual license requirements
 Willingness to perform other job duties, functions, responsibilities as needed, required or assigned

Customer Service
 Provide excellent customer service, both internally and externally
 Resolve customer problems and conflicts
 Responds promptly to customer needs
 Solicit customer feedback to improve service

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Job Requirements:

Trade Work or Accredited Training Program. Individuals with equivalent work experience and appropriate training may be considered.

Minimum 3 years' building maintenance experience
Valid driver's license - clean driving record
Certified Pool Operator's Certificate (C.P.O.) a plus
Trade certifications a plus
