Principal Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Aquatic Manager is responsible for supervising Lead Lifeguard, Swim Lesson Coordinator, and Lifeguards. The Aquatic Manager works in collaboration with the other Aquatics programs of the JCC. The Aquatics Manager is also responsible for performing any other assignments as required by the General Manager and Manager on Duty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Planning and Development:
 Develop, implement and oversee aquatic programs that reflect community needs and maintain the JCC's high standards of quality, safety and caring.
 Works closely with Swim Lesson Coordinator on maintaining Swim Lesson programs.
 Works with H&F Director on frequent news releases, flyers, advertising and other forms of publications, both within and outside the agency so as to effectively promote assigned programs.
 Monitor staff records and certifications and provide reports to the H&F Director as requested/directed.

Supervision, Direct and Indirect:
 Hire, train, supervise and evaluate all Lifeguards and Aquatics staff.
 Coordinate youth swim/camp programs with Camp Staff.
 Coordinate swim lesson programs for the JCC's Early Childhood Education and Brandeis Marin school.
 Conduct in-service education for Aquatics (and other) staff.

Other Duties:
 Serves as Manager on Duty minimum of two shifts a week.
 Substitute for lifeguards, swim and program instructors as needed.
 May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays in rotation with H&F staff to provide adequate MOD coverage.
 Maintain a professional image and manner constant with the JCC's mission and goals.
 Communicate effectively and professionally with members and staff.
 Additional duties to assist the health and fitness departments will be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job requires high energy and interaction with staff and members of the community. There is a need for quick decision-making and accountability for actions

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
 Bachelor's degree or 3 years minimum of supervisory experience.
 2+ years in Aquatics required.
 Current American Red Cross WSI, LGI and BLS certifications (or obtain within 4 months of being hired)
 Current CPO certificate (or obtain within 6 months of being hired)
 Proven history of successful pool facility expansion and program growth.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
 Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with staff members as well as members of the community.
 Supervisory skills include planning, budget management, team building, conflict resolution and staff evaluation.
 Ability to work well with teams as well as working independently with moderate to minimal supervision.
 Must be able to work flexible hours in an environment with constant mobility.
 Physical job duties include hands-on water instruction and lifeguarding

Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000
