Principal Responsibilities:
The Stamford JCC is in search of a Youth Coordinator and Assistant Camp Director to provide leadership and support to our Selkowitz Center for Youth and Family.This position is ideal for someone seeking engaging work where they can make a difference in children's lives while enjoying being part of a collaborative, upbeat and friendly community.This professional will support After School and weekend programming during the school year and provide Camp leadership, planning and supervision during the summer and year-round.
The position requires a self-motivated person who will be responsible for coordinating operational and programmatic elements within After School and Day Camps @ The J programming. KidsPlace is an active and engaging after-school program for children in grades K-5, located at the Stamford JCC, filled with learning and fun! Day Camps @ The J is a growing and vibrant Traditional Day Camp program.This role offers many opportunities to have a significant impact across the JCC community.
This is a full-time position and requires a combination of weekday, and program specific evening and weekend work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the leadership and onsite supervision of all youth and family programming including KidsPlace After School, Camp, vacation day programs, weekend events and community celebrations.
- Assist with the recruitment, hiring and training of all program staff.
- Responsible for developing the Camp Master Schedule including Daily schedules, specialist schedules and special events.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of all facets of the camp program including acting as the liaison between traditional and specialty camps, purchasing supplies and vendor relations.
- Oversees programming and specialist teams for Day Camps @ The J as part of the Camp Leadership Team.
- Assist in developing program opportunities for youth, teen and tween groups.
- Assignments as given by the Associate Executive Director or the CEO of the JCC.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Program Coordinator must be an ambitious and enthusiastic team player. They must have experience working with children and be warm, cheerful, patient and nurturing. In addition to these qualities, the successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
- 1-3 years experience working with school-age children in formal or informal settings
- 1-3 years experience managing and/or developing children's programming
- Highly organized and process oriented; both focused and flexible
- Excellent communicator (listening, written and verbal skills)
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of children, families, instructors, educators, and co-workers
- Flexible, mature and responsible

Salary:
$45,000 - $55,000
