CAMP OVERVIEW

POSITION OVERVIEW

Infuse camp with songs for all the kids to enjoy. The Camp Twelve Trails song leader serves as the facilitator of daily performances, while also orchestrating multiple classes a day to provide the campers with musical direction. Work with our Programming team to develop and implement educationally rich, experiential programming at camp through song!

The Song Leader reports to and is supported by the Programming Director, who has existing materials to assist in programming. While Camp Twelve Trails has existing materials to work with, the Song Leader should also bring their own repertoire of Jewish songs to incorporate.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SONG LEADER:

• Bring a communal song to the morning kick off "Boker Tov" and all Shabbat ceremonies on Friday
• Create communal song-based programming to teach campers.
• Run 4 classes a day for a variety of age groups ranging from 5 to 12 years old. (flexibility on this requirement if you have a different vision for the summer)
• Create a safe environment while providing a fun experience for the campers.

DATES:

• Staff Training beginning June 1st (4 or 5 trainings in June)
• Camp runs June 28th-August 18th, Monday - Friday. We are closed on July 3rd & 4th.
• Hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the summer.

LOCATION:

• Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Rockland (Free busing is provided from Upper Manhattan, Riverdale, and the lower Westchester river towns).

SALARY:

• $6500 - $7500 for the summer.

Minimum Qualifications:

This job is for you if:

• You are available in the summer!
• You have experience song leading!
• You are comfortable performing and teaching a large group of children and adults (500 people)
• You enjoy working with smaller groups of children on a more consistent basis
• Have experience with children ages 5+
• Have a repertoire of Jewish songs but a willingness to learn our traditions and help inspire new ones!

WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCE

• Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Must pass the background check, medical tests, fingerprinting through the Department of Health and Department of Education, and other pre-employment requirements.
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 upon commencement of employment.
