Principal Responsibilities:

The Delegation Head & Youth Sports Manager is a part-time staff position with the Kaiserman Jewish Community Center. Under the supervision of the JCC Maccabi Games Director, the Delegation Head & Youth Sports Manager will lead the formation and management of the Team Philadelphia Delegation for the summer JCC Maccabi Games and the Jr. Maccabi Games in May. This position will also oversee the JCC's Sunday Youth Sports Leagues.

The Delegation Head & Youth Sports Manager will work Sunday through Thursday, with occasional flexibility as needed, especially in the Summer during the JCC Maccabi Games.

The initial appointment is for one year, with the potential for renewal subject to organizational needs and available funding.

Minimum Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

Delegation Head

  • Serve as primary contact with Host Community and JCC Association
  • Serve as primary contact for parents, participants, and lay leaders
  • Recruit all local (five counties of Greater Philadelphia) for local delegation
  • Ages 13-17 for JCC Maccabi Games
  • Ages 9-12 for Mini and Jr Maccabi Games
  • Recruit, Interview, orient, and support volunteer coaches.
  • Create a tryout plan and practice schedule with coaches.
  • Attend most if not all tryouts.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding tryouts, registration, scheduling, and program details to ensure a smooth participant, and family, experience
  • Share information received from the host communities and JCCA association as well as orient athletes and parents/guardians with at least one delegation meeting.
  • Convene Teen Leadership Council to support JCC Maccabi Activities, Swag/Uniform Design, Recruitment, and other activities as needed.
  • Act as the JCC Maccabi and Team Philadelphia spokesperson for the delegation within the agency
  • Attend all Delegation Head Meetings for JCC Maccabi Games and Mini & Jr Maccabi games, this includes but is not limited to:
  • Attend bi-monthly calls with JCCA for JCC Maccabi Games
  • Attend spring delegation head meetings for all sites Team Philly is attending
  • Attend Mini & Jr Maccabi Games calls hosted by the host delegation.
  • Travel to JCC Maccabi Games and Mini & Jr Maccabi Games
  • JCC Maccabi Games - includes but is not limited to Thursday prior to the games through the Friday of the Games.
  • Mini & Jr Maccabi Games - includes but is not limited to Saturday evening prior to the Games and the Games on the first Sunday in May.
  • Ensure all athletes, chaperones, and coaches complete required paperwork on time to avoid late fee charges.
  • Track the annual JCC Maccabi budget; manage and implement the approved budget and take appropriate action to correct.
  • Assist Games Director as needed with 2027 JCC Maccabi Games Hosting tasks.

Youth Sports Manager

  • Communicate with participants, families, coaches, and volunteers regarding schedules, updates, and program needs.
  • Coordinate team, practice, and game logistics.
  • Be on-site each Sunday to oversee league practices and games.
  • Set up and organize equipment and program spaces.
  • Plan weekly practice curriculum and provide coaches/volunteers with practice plans.
  • Order and maintain sports equipment and supplies.
  • Address issues that arise during league programming.
  • Work with JCC staff to improve and develop the league throughout the season.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular departmental meetings
  • Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning equipment
  • Oversee internal marketing and communication efforts to maximize enrollments and program participation
  • Identify and resolve program problem areas to ensure member satisfaction
  • Produce department operation reports as needed
  • Represent and promote the Kaiserman JCC in the community as needed and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, business and governmental entities
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • At least two years' experience working in the Jewish engagement or educational field
  • Experience working with families and children
  • Experience with Youth Sports
  • Ability to make oral presentations, direct and organize large program meetings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational skills, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with teens, parents, and coaches.
  • Passion for youth development, community building, and Jewish values.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills
