Principal Responsibilities:
The JCC Maccabi Assistant Games Director is a full-time staff position with the Kaiserman Jewish Community Center. Under the supervision of the JCC Maccabi Games Director, JCC Maccabi Assistant Games Director is responsible for ensuring an effective orchestration of the JCC Maccabi Games by maintaining strong lines of communication between committees, delegations, staff, and volunteers.
The initial appointment is for one year, with the potential for renewal subject to organizational needs and available funding.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Assist Games Director with any and all planning and administrative areas related to the successful organization of the Games, including working with the numerous Steering Committee Chairpersons, their respective committees, and their JCC staff liaisons, as well as the general Jewish community and the at-large community.
- Maintain relationship with visiting delegation heads to ensure a smooth process of preparing for the Games.
- Attend all staff planning meetings, steering committee meetings and others when necessary.
- Administration and development of monthly Games newsletters to visiting delegations and local community volunteers. Assist in the continuous promotion of the Games.
- Work with Local Delegation Heads and staff to ensure the delivery of a well-planned and organized JCC Maccabi experience for the Local Delegation including all administrative, social and sporting aspects of the Games.
- Work with the Games Director and Steering Committee on delivering the community outreach strategy to engage all corners of the Jewish Community and recruit local athletes, volunteers, host families and spectators. Includes making presentations to large and small audiences and attending community events and special occasions
- Working with JCC Association national staff and the registration computer system.
- Assist with the supervision of either part-time/volunteer/student intern personnel as deemed necessary by Games Director.
- Be flexible in handling additional tasks assigned by the Games Director as needed.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by Games Director.
- Constant communication with Games Director and Games Chairperson(s) to determine specific related needs and requirements.
- At least two years' experience working in the Jewish engagement or educational field
- Strong leadership, organizational skills, and administrative skills
- Strong customer service and public relations skills
- Proactive work style and ability to multi-task
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with a willingness to seek assistance when necessary.
- Ability to make oral presentations, direct and organize large program meetings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with colleagues, lay leaders, teens, and families.
- Experience working with lay leaders and volunteers
- Previous experience of Jewish Community work/involvement
- Understanding of, and enthusiasm for, the ethos/mission of the JCC Maccabi Experience
- Previous Jewish Community/Games experience would be beneficial but not a pre-requisite
This is an exempt employment position. Candidate must be willing to work outside of regular hours including some evenings and weekends.
The JCC Maccabi Games Assistant Director must be prepared to do whatever is necessary to help the Games Director and staff run a smooth and organized set of Games. Within the last several months of program planning and during the program week itself, this will require considerable time above and beyond the normal 40-hour work week. The candidate must be able to work with a wide variety of volunteers and staff; and to remain calm while working under pressure.

$55,000 - $65,000
