It is expected that this person manage and coordinate the upkeep, renovation, repairs and improvements to all the Jewish Community Center's grounds and equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate and maintain landscape and snow removal equipment.
Small engine/machinery repair
Ability to manage priorities
Ability to communicate with staff, colleagues, vendors
Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks
Ability to consistently deliver quality customer service
Ability to read, understand and follow basic operating instructions
Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner
Must have the ability to enforce all facility rules and policies.
Be available for on-call duty as necessary
Snow removal equipment including a blower, spreader, plow and dump truck
Tractor with back hoe and/or bucket
Lawn equipment including blowers, mowers, trimmer, and sprayers
SPECIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Ability to push/pull/lift up to 75 pounds
Ability to sit, stand, bend, crawl, stoop, reach or walk for extended periods of time
Must be comfortable working alone or with group/team
Must be comfortable on ladder, roof, or at heights above ground
Free from allergies that would interfere with job responsibilities
Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, vibration
Exposure to weather conditions
Exposure to loud noises, specifically around machinery
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Recognize, maintain and fully utilize all personal protective equipment in order to perform all job duties.
Create a welcoming and safe environment for all members, guests, and staff
Manages a preventive maintenance program for all equipment.
Make adjustments and minor repairs/replacements to equipment according to manufacturer's specifications
Maintain repair log on all vehicles and equipment
Maintain building security protocols
Perform site safety inspections on a regular basis, making recommendations wherever appropriate; ensure insurance/risk management compliance and adherence to federal, state, OSHA and other regulations
Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers and snow shovels and spread snow melting chemicals
Following specific opening/closing procedures for the building
Thorough daily walk-through of grounds looking for areas of concern; appropriately reported to supervisor and actions taken to correct/secure facility
Perform emergency repairs or cleaning services as needed
Be familiar with programs and activities through Center
Inventory supply controls for all grounds equipment
Attend department and team meetings as required
Attend conferences/seminars/workshops for ongoing continual license requirements
Willingness to perform other job duties, functions, responsibilities as needed, required or assigned
Strong customer focus, both internally and externally
Education and/or Experience:
Trade Work or Accredited Training Program. Individuals with equivalent work experience and appropriate training may be considered.
Minimum 3 years' grounds & equipment maintenance experience
Valid driver's license - clean driving record
Certified Pool Operator's Certificate (C.P.O.)-A plus
Trade certifications a plus
