Principal Responsibilities:

Job Summary:

The Director of Jewish Life and Learning will be an employee of the Birmingham Jewish Federation reporting to the CEO and will work together with staff, stakeholders internal and external to the JCC, and with synagogue and agency partners to infuse Judaism into what we do daily at the LJCC. The Director of Jewish Life and Learning will connect and engage Jewish people to create community in meaningful ways. The Director of Jewish Life and Learning will bring a spirit of creativity to how we experience Judaism on campus and beyond our campus. This individual will work with the Program Director and others to re-imagine, develop, and strengthen Jewish programs and opportunities, including strategy, content, and atmosphere. Additionally, this individual will create positive exposure to Jewish values and traditions for J members and the broader community.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Power Point and Publisher and comfortable learning payroll, fundraising and other industry specific software.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Jewish or Rabbinical Studies preferred. Alternate degrees with applicable work experience also encouraged to apply.

Salary:

$85,000 - $95,000

As a recipient of Birmingham Jewish Federation and United Way dollars, we impact more than 10,000 Birmingham residents annually.

The LJCC is home to a large fitness center that includes free weights (dumbbells up to 100 lbs., specialty barbells, kettlebells, and bumper plates), Cybex machines, and cardio equipment (Stairmasters, treadmills, ellipticals, and concept II rowers). We also offer more than 45 group fitness classes a week, personal training, a five-mile hiking and biking trail, and a large outdoor pool with a baby pool. Alongside our fitness offerings, we also boast a respected early childhood program, summer and year-round camps, and a wide range of other activities and programs. Everything from Jewish programming to aquatics classes are available at our beautiful facility that is conveniently located on 70 wooded acres off Montclair Road.
