Our full-time Assistant Controller, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and Controller, will help lead day-to-day finance operations, including accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This position is in Nassau County (East Hills), Long Island.
How You'll Help Us Be Successful:
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets and actual expenditures
Ensure monthly account reconciliations are prepared timely and accurately
Lead month-end close process, including journal entries, and revenue recognition, and reporting
Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner
Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Evaluate issues for corrective and preventive action
Assist management in the annual budgeting and planning process, including variance analysis
Oversee grant reporting and analysis
Ensure accuracy and effectiveness of donor tracking and communication systems
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and all banking transactions
Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
A proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for finance
Impeccable attention to detail and commitment to establishing and adhering to rigorous internal controls
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of progressive finance experience
Experience in a complex nonprofit that has multiple programs preferred
Solid experience managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting
Technology savvy; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, boards/committees, donors, or other outside partners
Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
Salary:
$85,000 - $95,000
