Principal Responsibilities:
Position Summary
The Community Care Director will deliver best-practice, trauma-informed care to children, teens, and young adults with mental and behavioral health challenges. The position is responsible for building a vibrant Jewish community by providing culturally competent mental health services, overseeing campers and staff care, and the well-being of the diverse BB Camp community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working closely, training, developing relevant strategies, and communicating with parents, staff, and campers on issues related to mental, emotional, and social health (MESH), including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/ loss, relationship issues, emotional regulation, and social skills to ensure a successful camp experience. Duties include recruitment, screening, intake and orientation, evaluation and intervention, treatment planning, referrals, counseling, training, patient education, case management, reporting, record keeping, and information collection.
Essential Functions
Assist in developing and implementing a strategy for the recruitment of new campers and the retention of current campers, including in-direct and direct outreach and communication with prospective and current families; travel will be necessary.

- Assist with the development and implementation of mental and behavioral health policies and practices.
- Work closely, train, develop relevant strategies, and communicate with parents, staff, and campers on issues related to mental, emotional, and social health, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/ loss, relationship issues, emotional regulation, and social skills to ensure a successful camp experience.
- Provide direct counseling to campers and staff as appropriate and needed.
- Conduct general mental health intake screening process for all campers, with comprehensive intake and planning implemented for campers with identified mental and behavioral health needs.
- Develop Individualized Camper Plans (ICP) for overnight campers and work with summer staff to ensure implementation of each ICP.
- Assist in the development of ICPs for day campers and serve as a MESH resource for BB Day Camps.
- Assist in developing and implementing additional camp programs focused on participants with MESH needs.
- Track and maintain data documenting the needs and evaluating the care of all campers with significant mental health needs.
- Supervise all programs on Camp related specifically to campers with MESH needs.
- Work with Camp staff team to ensure daily welfare of campers and the resolution of all camper-related issues.
- Coordinate and deliver best-practice staff trainings on MESH-related topics, including crisis mental health support.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate Camper Care and Wellness team, including regular supervisory meetings.
- Mentor and assist Unit Heads, Unit Leaders, Inclusion and MESH Counselors in behavior and MESH needs management and accommodations of campers with their direct reports.
- Create and implement staff activities and trainings throughout the summer to promote positive staff culture, professional development, and personal growth.
- Communicate with parents before, during, and after each summer, sharing updates, problem-solving together, and enabling long-term success for campers.
- Collaborate with families to promote access to mental health care and the well-being of campers beyond the camp experience. Build enthusiasm for and referrals to community resources, such as Jewish-affiliated community programs, medical clinics, schools, and other educational institutions.
- Create engagement and learning opportunities for families in the Jewish Community who have children with MESH needs and behavioral challenges.
- Ensure compliance with grants and contracts with various funders with varied guidelines, rules, programs, and reporting requirements; Report and track all grants related to MESH.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or special education preferred. Oregon licensed and registered mental-health clinician in good standing with their boardwelcomed.
- A minimum of two years clinical experience required.
- Experience in Jewish camping or similar non-profit work.
- Work effectively with and understand the Jewish community and Jewish values, focusing on children, teens, and young adults.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including group facilitation, training, and presentations.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with several stakeholders (parents, counselors, unit supervisors, medical staff, camp administration, etc.)
- Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience with program development and implementation.
- Prioritizes inclusivity within the work that is produced.
- Ability to be flexible and manage change.
- Excel at computer-based platforms and related technology, including but not limited to telehealth and databases.
Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully pass criminal background check and, if applicable, fingerprinting.
- Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen.
- Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation.
- Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the US.
- Must have valid driver's license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record.
