ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Substitute Teachers fill in for Staff if they are unable to work for any reason. We maintain a list of possible subs that we call if a teacher will be out. We call until 10 the night before or after 6:30 the morning of the need. If we have advance notice, like if a teacher has a doctor's appointment or personal day, we arrange for subs further in advance. If we call someone to sub and they are not available that is always fine. The substitute is responsible to arrive at whatever time the teacher they are covering for would normally work. A warm smile and willingness to help are a great asset, and of course, they must love children.
They play with the children, help with prep and clean up and supervise play and facilitate socialization. All of our substitute teachers must be fingerprinted and have a current, clear TB test on record. The Substitute teacher will work with the Teachers in each assigned classroom to envision and create a program for children and their families in a loving, nurturing and supportive environment. They have strong interpersonal and communication skills- they will be friendly and welcoming to all parents, children, & staff. Maintain confidentiality AT ALL TIMES with regards to children's and staff's information. Be a self-motivated team player in the Early Childhood Learning Center and at the JCC.
