Job Title: Cherryvale Camp Boulder and Jewish Culture Specialist, 40 hours/week, seasonal May 26-August 14
Department: Cherryvale Day Camp; Reports to the Cherryvale Day Camp Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
To further the mission of Cherryvale Day Camp through the development and delivery of Boulder and Jewish culture activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers' ages and abilities. Responsible for the Boulder and Jewish culture programming and equipment.
Grow and improve the Boulder and Jewish Culture Program
Work with the Program Director prior to the start of summer to start planning programs
Make recommendations for equipment, supplies, and programs
Oversee and implement the camp Boulder and Jewish Culture programming
Carry out programs that will engage and teach campers of various ages and needs about Jewish Culture
o Organize programming for Shabbat each week
o Develop and implement a program that focuses on a different Jewish value each week
Prepare and implement the outings in Boulder for each bunk group each week
o Book the outings in advance
o Review with the bunk staff the needs of the outings and timing
o Attend all outings as the lead staff member
Prepare and implement programs that embody the culture of Boulder for each of the bunks
o Areas of focus should begin with but are not limited to: mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and nature
Responsible for the set up and clean-up of the Boulder and Jewish Culture programs and projects in that area
Bring Boulder and Jewish Culture into other areas of camp life
Organize projects that support the theme of each camp week
Supervise area and ensure that campers are being safe and properly instructed
Enforce all rules and policies at camp, within the specialty area and camp as a whole
Manage the Boulder and Jewish Culture budget and purchase items as needed with the help of the Program Director
Help out in other areas of camp as needed
- Programming background in Jewish Values
- Knowledge of the Boulder Area
- Wilderness First Aid Training or willingness to be certified
- High School Graduate or equivalent and must be over the age of 18.
- Desire and ability to teach Boulder and Jewish Culture to children with various backgrounds and abilities
- Desire and ability to work with children
- Ability to accept supervision, guidance and act as a positive role model to inspire children and staff
