Reports to the Senior Development Director and is an energetic and ambitious fundraiser who will successfully partner with the development team and volunteer leadership to ensure the success of fundraising events and opportunities throughout the year. The Development Executive will raise funds in the United States and/or overseas to support our camps and year-round programs both in the United States and in Israel.
Development Executive will work to build strong relationships within the philanthropic and business communities of Westchester and Manhattan to build support for Sunrise Day Camp - Pearl River and the Sunrise Association.
Candidate will be responsible for working in coordination with lay leadership to oversee all details for the premier annual gala in Manhattan and a benefit concert in Westchester.
The Development Executive will be responsible for creating new opportunities and relationships, seeking out and successfully soliciting individuals, companies, and foundations, and maintaining relationships with past organizations/donors who have supported Sunrise - Israel.
Candidate will be responsible for grant writing, soliciting new opportunities for grants, and maintaining relationships with past organizations who have given grants.
Development Executive must feel comfortable public speaking as she/he will be providing tours of our camps throughout the summer.
She/he must be energetic, passionate about our mission
The position is a hybrid of in-person and remote work based on residency. In-person work takes place at the Long Island office in Oceanside. During camp season, candidate should expect to be at the Pearl River camp regularly for tours and volunteer days.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 7-10 years' professional fundraising and development experience
Proven record of major gift fundraising success in the New York philanthropic community and with those who support Israeli causes
Candidate must be able to identify, cultivate, and engage new donors with significant philanthropic capacity via strategic outreach and action steps, including one-on-one discovery meetings and personalized engagement opportunities
Proven ability in team building skills with both professional and lay leadership
Experience managing event committees and working with honorees to help them achieve fundraising goals
Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and move quickly from one project to another while maintaining overall perspective
Demonstrated track record of motivating and energizing others
Strong budgeting, strategic planning, and marketing skills
Superior interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal skills
The mission of the Sunrise Association is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings world-wide, through the creation of Sunrise Day Camps, Year-Round Programs, and In-Hospital Recreational Activities, all offered free of charge.
Currently the Sunrise Association provides 8-day camps; one each in Atlanta, GA and Baltimore, MD and three each in New York and Israel. Sunrise Association is affiliated with 36 pediatric oncology hospitals in the catchment areas of our camps and oversees myriad year-round programs both in and outside of our hospital network. In 2021 the Sunrise Association provided programming for over 14,000 children between our in-person camps and year-round programs and virtual programs.
In 2022 the Sunrise Association will be opening two new in-person camps, one each in Northern Virginia and Greater Philadelphia and has an expansion plan to open additional camps over the next 3-4 years. A new virtual summer camp experience, Sunrise VX, will also be offered for the full summer.
