Principal Responsibilities:

WORKING AT Y's AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

Columbia Secondary School is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) focused public school that serves students in the sixth through tenth grade. The program is focused on leadership, STEM, Social Emotional Learning, community service and academics. Students engage in weekly hikes, gardening initiatives, STEM activities, job shadowing and college readiness programs.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Group leaders are responsible for academic tutoring and assisting lead instructors in preparing students to demonstrate newly acquired skills in STEM, leadership, sports and the arts.

Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma and must be at least 18 years old
  • Experience working with youth in a classroom, afterschool, or community-based environment

  • PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS

  • College Degree
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in progress
  • Experience as a Group Leader using a positive youth development model

  • WORK AUTHORIZATION & CLEARANCE

     Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.

     Must pass the background check, medical exams, fingerprinting and other requirements of the

    Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DOE), and Department of Youth and

    Community Development (DYCD).
