The first Sunrise Day Camp was set up in 2006 as a program of the Friedberg JCC in Oceanside NY. Over the years, 10 more camps were opened; the impact that they have had on the children who attend is beyond measure.

In 2010, the first camp was set up in Israel, which would eventually be followed by two others. Sunrise today is an independent 501(c)(3), although it is still affiliated with the Friedberg JCC, and is working internationally to bring joy to children who have lost a piece of their childhood through cancer. Today there are 10 in person camps - 3 of which are operated by JCCs - with an 11th camp set to open this summer in Chicago in partnership with JCC Chicago. Additionally, Sunrise operates a virtual camp (Sunrise VX) for children who live too far away from our in-person camps or who are too ill to attend, along with in-person year-round programming in 26 hospitals throughout the US and Israel. Finally, Sunrise provides virtual online programs to bed-ridden children in more than 75 hospitals across the United States, expanding soon to Israel. This is a highly impactful agency that makes a real difference in the lives of children struggling with cancer. And you can be a part of it.
