Principal Responsibilities:

Hours: Early Morning Hours 4:45 AM - 8:30 AM and weekends

• Monitor Fitness Center floor (maintain a presence on floor throughout shifts)
• Provide introductions (J Start / Jr Start programs) and information to JCC members on equipment in an instructional and safe manner.
• Cleaning of fitness center equipment (Following daily agenda)/clearing of plates and dumbbells from benches/floor.
• Administer Blood Pressure readings and fitness assessments
• Maintain ongoing communication with members and participants in Fitness Center - high level of customer service. (Engage prospective members on tour)
• Maintain a safe well-rounded environment for all participants in the JCC fitness center.
• To maintain First Aid / CPR / AED training and to use these skills when necessary.
• Fitness Certifications are recommended as is continuing education.
• Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning equipment.
• Additional responsibilities may be added periodically based upon the needs of the H & F department of the Katz JCC.
• Staff should be knowledgeable about our agency and be able to respond appropriately with accurate information. Staff should consistently highlight and promote all activities, events, training programs and services in an enthusiastic and professional manner.
• Understand and be able to administer emergency procedures (fire alarm evacuation, etc.)
• Enforce rules and guidelines of the Fitness Center
• Report all fitness center matters to Fitness Director and Fitness Center Manager.
• Participate in scheduled staff meetings/training and development sessions.
• Volunteer for special events (if applicable)
• Work holiday Shifts (fill out holiday coverage sheet)
• Responsible for shift coverage (sickness/vacation/weekends/etc.)
• Addition tasks may be assigned by supervisors
• Please arrive on time for shifts (opening shifts please arrive 10-15 minutes before we open)
• Wear appropriate Uniforms / name badges
• Please follow break rules / consideration of fellow employees
• Please keep cell phone use to a minimum and not on floor (unless client related) if you carry your phone keep it on buzzer
• Maintain a high level of professionalism as JCC Fitness Staff Personnel
• Be a Team Player

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Fitness, Exercise Science or related field. Personal Training Certification (Mandatory)
• First Aid / CPR / AED Certified
• Fitness certifications (any additional to compliment Personal Training)
• Initiative, good communication skills, enthusiasm, friendly outgoing attitude.
• Ability to work well with others towards a common goal.
• A team player with your fellow employees
