Principal Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of a curriculum that reflects the goals and values of our program, contributes valuable insights, creativity, and ideas to our team, and brings a love of learning that inspires curiosity and growth in each child. The Lead Teacher is well-versed in infant development, understanding the importance of responsive care and early social-emotional skills in building strong foundations.

Under the supervision of the JCC Early Childhood Education Director and Managers, the Lead Infant Teacher will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program for infants, including planning activities that promote physical, social, and emotional growth in accordance with the mission of the Jewish Community Center.

Candidates Must Be Dedicated to:

• Developing and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and sensory activities that support infant development in areas like motor skills, early communication, and emotional bonding.
• Maintaining accurate records of each child's development and progress.
• Monitoring and assessing each child's development, providing nurturing feedback and responsive care as needed.
• Promoting a secure and empathetic environment for infants, including helping them cope with separation, transitions, and building trust with caregivers.
• Following ethical standards and professional guidelines by the Office of Children and Family Services and Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
• Upholding standards of confidentiality, sensitivity, and respect for children, families, and colleagues.
• Communicating regularly, respectfully, and effectively with families.
• Creating a nurturing, supportive community in the classroom by encouraging early social skills, empathy, and independence.
• Engaging in ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood/Related Field or CDA.
• Previous experience or educational background in working with infants is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with infants, families, and staff.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for nurturing infants.
• Ability to carry a child up to 45 pounds and sit at the infants' level to interact and communicate effectively.

Since its inception in 1927, the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Binghamton, NY has grown to become an essential part of the Broome County community. As a full-service, non-profit organization, the JCC provides educational, cultural, recreational, and physical fitness programs to enhance the quality of life for all ages, from infants to senior citizens. As a non-sectarian United Way partner, the Center welcomes participants regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or ability to pay.

The JCC's facility houses a natatorium with a 2250 sq. ft. pool, gymnasium, small fitness center, men's and women's health clubs, steam, sauna, a fitness loft with spin bikes and Pilates reformers, stage, auditorium, and more. Over 200 children are served daily at our award-winning Early Childhood Center. Our year-round educational childcare includes UPK, after-school program, summer camp, and youth sports offerings.

The 8-acre land also features outdoor tennis/pickleball and basketball courts, pavilion, nature preserve, soccer field, and three age-appropriate playground facilities.
