WJCC Sports Staff will report to Westside JCC's Sports and Recreation Coordinator. They shall coach youth teams in a year-round program for school age children by offering club basketball experience, teach multiple different sports, build relationships with players as well as parents, and engage in service-based programming. This is a part-time non-exempt position. The ideal candidate has experience in teaching multiple different sports, be a mentor to young children, and is able to adapt on the fly. They will be a team player with excellent communication skills, and have experience working with children, and their families.
The primary responsibilities of the Sports Staff include, but are not limited to:
Facilitate team basketball practices and youth clinics.
Coach teams in games
Assist in set up of multiple different sports programs
Assist in facilitation of team-centered, non-athletic, social and community service programming.
Communicate with families.
Develop sound professional relationships with children and parents.
Collaborate as a member of the WJCC sports staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
1-2 years of basketball playing experience
1-2 years of coaching experience(preferred)
Prior experience in working with children and their families
Exceptional skill and capacity for engagement and relationship building with both children and their parents.
Proven ability to plan, originate and organize practices.
Be a leader, self-starter, and strong collaborator.
Ability to accept guidance, constructive feedback, and support.
