Principal Responsibilities:
Classification: Full-time salaried, 40 hours/week, 12-month
Salary: $38,000-$43,000 per year

Position Summary: Visionary early childhood leaders create and live within a healthy school environment that nurtures growth for children, families, and educators alike. Inspired by the richness of our Jewish lenses and universal values, we work with families, teachers, and lay leadership to create an environment that cultivates a diverse and vibrant learning community. Shalom Children's Center's early childhood leaders focus on creating systems and elevating practices at all levels of the program that nurture the minds, souls, and hearts of all participants in our unique learning community. This position will partner with the Early Childhood Education Director to provide daily operational support and strategic leadership to Shalom Children's Center Early Childhood Programs.
We are looking for a visionary associate director who is invested in:
- Making decisions that are fiscally sound and in the best interest of children, families, and faculty
- Giving a voice and platform for teachers to advocate for their invaluable work
- Recognizing their own potential as an advocate for social change
- Creating an organizational culture and systems to support our hopes and dreams as a learning community
- Developing schedules and routines for faculty that provide compensated, consistent, and regular time to learn, grow, and reflect with their colleagues, families, students, and the community
- Ensuring that the goals of Shalom Children's Center are aligned and integral to the Asheville JCC as an organization
- Cultivating emerging second-tier leadership to promote a healthy, sustainable life for the center
- Creating non-hierarchical spaces so every space (indoor and outdoor) can testify to the 100 languages of children
- Sharing and amplifying stories of our individual and collective journeys as a school community
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant field
- NC Admin III credential
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years direct experience in Education
- Strong foundation in early childhood development, early childhood research and best practices, Reggio-Emilia study, Constructivist learning frameworks and pedagogy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to supervise, train, coach, and motivate teaching staff
- Ability to connect and relate positively to a diverse range of children, families, staff, and city and state officials
- Willingness to help foster and promote Jewish culture, values, and traditions
Salary:
$35,000 - $45,000
