Division Leaders at the Kings Bay Y are Senior Camp Leadership roles responsible for providing a fun summer camp experience for a particular age group of campers. Divisions include groups of both boys and girls, with 12-15 campers per group and between 3-8 groups per Division. Our ages range from 4 to 14. Each group consists of a head counselor, assistant counselor, and potentially a CIT (counselor in training). Division Leaders work together collectively with specialists to create an inclusive camp curriculum. The Division Leader is responsible for supervising the staff members in their division along with providing guidance for dealing with challenging behaviors and delivering performance feedback to the staff. Being able to think on your feet while juggling multiple responsibilities is an essential function for this position.
This role is for an eight-week summer program from June 28th to August 20th. Staff training will begin with bi-weekly meetings in April. Regular camp hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Division Leaders are expected to arrive before the campers and staff to prepare for the day and stay after to debrief with the Camp Manager.
Communicating with other camp staff and with parents is an important part of this job. You will develop and hone professional skills that will be helpful to you for years to come. Support and feedback from other division leaders as well as the camp director will be provided on a rolling basis.
