Principal Responsibilities:

Ensure the adherence to developmentally appropriate curriculum, environment and interactions with children and parents by all First Foot Forward staff.

Monitor children's needs to ensure that services are provided in the least restrictive environment.
Coordinate, oversee and review therapeutic and educational initial/requested/annual evaluations, progress notes, IEP's and attendance reports.
Attend CPSE and CSE reviews.
Review educational goals and objectives for children to insure continuity in classroom lessons. Review lesson plans.
Plan and participate in team case conference meetings to review student intervention strategies and make recommendations for development of the IEP.
Coordinate and participate in parent-teacher conferences to review student performance in therapeutic and educational goals and objectives.
Job Profile
Coordinate staff and therapy scheduling for children.
Plan and conduct weekly staff meetings.
Maintain an open door policy for staff and parents.
Act as a resource for staff regarding student behaviors, family concerns, communication with parents, scheduling, goals, etc.
Ensure compliance and adherence to State regulatory guidelines (State Education Department), licensing agency procedures (Department of Health- Bureau of Daycare), and municipality regulations (Department of Education).
Establish and ensure professional effective communication with parents, potential program participants and staff.
Supervise the inventory and ordering of ordering department supplies.
Hire and supervise program staff. Ensure all staff submits required documentation.
Prepare and review staff evaluations.
Assess needs and coordinate ongoing Professional Staff Development both through in-service training and outside services.
Maintain and respect confidentiality of child, parent, staff and other center issues.
Assist in planning Center and School wide events.
Attend biweekly program staff meetings, in-service training and on /offsite professional development workshops, as determined by the director.
Work in collaboration with the Assistant Director to provide overall program/building oversight.
Keep Director informed of all extra ordinary incidents relating to accidents, concerns about staff/child welfare or circumstances.
Appropriately represent the Center in all forums.

Minimum Qualifications:

New York State Education Department permanent certification in:
- Special Education
- Birth to Grade 2
- Supervision and Administration (SAS)/ School Building Leader (SBL)
Knowledge of State and Local Municipality special education regulations and procedures
Additional Requirements
Fingerprint Clearance (Department of Investigation and Department of Education)
New York State Central Registry Clearance
Annual Medical Clearance

Maintain the therapeutic development of students and the professional development of therapists by developing and implementing policies and programs, and providing a safe and healthy environment conducive to child development.

Maintain high standard of classroom intervention by overseeing training of classroom staff by clinical therapists.
Monitor curriculum with regards to school policies (i.e. child centered activities, active involvement, non-holiday activities, nutritious snacks, etc.).
Delegate responsibilities within department and follow through on progress of those assignments.
Coordinate new class assignments for staff and children.

Act as liaison between First Foot Forward and the Jewish Community Center.

Salary:

75,000 - 85,000

Agency Information:

The JCC of Staten Island is seeking to hire a First Foot Forward Coordinator. This is a full time position. The Coordinator is responsible to ensure that all programs implemented in First Foot Forward are providing quality, developmentally appropriate, safe, nurturing and stimulating environments per licensing and contracting regulations of the State Education Department, the Department of Education and the Department of Health. Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, staff and coworkers within the Center and the community.
