Principal Responsibilities:

This is a 35-hour per week full time position reporting directly to the Fitness Manager.

Summary

Under the direction of the Fitness Center Manager, the Fitness Programmer / Personal Trainer is responsible for providing the highest quality of programs and services. This position is responsible for conducting fitness orientations, assessments, floor coverage, developing customized programs, delivering personal training sessions (one to one and group) and motivating clients. Personal trainers must demonstrate strong customer service skills, and be energetic, enthusiastic, motivated, and sensitive to the needs of the JCC Greater Bostons diverse clientele.

Education & Experience

  • Four-year B.S. or M.S. degree in kinesiology, sports medicine or other related field preferred
  • 2-3 years of Personal Training experience preferred
  • Program design experience preferred
  • Desire to transform lives through educating members on health and wellness topics.
  • Understand principles of physical fitness and proper exercise technique.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess or be willing to learn sales skills.
  • Ability to self-promote and network.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adjust and operate fitness equipment.

Requirements

  • Certified Personal Trainer from a nationally recognized personal training agency. Such as: ACE, ACTION, AAPTE, ACSM, AFAA, CSCCa, Cooper Institute, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT, NESTA, NETA, NFPT, NSCA, PTA Global, LT Academy
  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Exercise Science or related field and certification from a nationally recognized agency
  • Maintain current CPR/AED certification
  • Must be physically able to lift 45 lbs. and must be able to stand for 90 minutes at a time
  • Must have previous training and program design
  • Must be willing to attend training and development classes
  • Must be reliable and have work schedule flexibility (which may include, early mornings, nights and weekend hours)
