Principal Responsibilities:

Unit Leader: Upper Camp

Camp Kaleidoscope, the JCC's arts and science day camp in Newton, MA, is looking for Unit Leaders for summer 2019. Leaders must be available for full camp season including orientation dates unless otherwise agreed on. Kaleidoscope is a pluralistic Jewish camp welcoming the entire community. Full-time staff may send their children to camp for free.
The Unit Leader: Upper Camp, is responsible for overseeing campers entering grades 4-11 and upper camp and CIT counselors and specialists. Primary responsibilities include ensuring that camper needs are met; communicating with parents; supervising counselor and specialist staff; and working with program staff to refine daily activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be college graduate.

Minimum of 3 years working in camp or camp-like setting.

Previous teaching and supervisory experience is preferred.

Experience with Jewish education, theatrical productions, studio art, or science teaching a plus.

Strong communication and problem solving skills.

Experience communicating and working with parents of children of varying abilities.

Ability to remain calm and maintain perspective under pressure.

Commitment to work collaboratively with others.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs.

Must have a sense of fun.

Must be energetic, enthusiastic and demonstrate the desire to go the extra mile.

Employment Status: Full-time Seasonal, Mondays through Fridays, June 24 - August 16, including 25-30 hours of staff training and pre-camp set-up in May and June.

Hours: 8:00am-5:30pm Mondays; 8am-5pm Tuesday-Friday or as needed
