Principal Responsibilities:


The person in this position works under the direct supervision of the J Camps Inclusion Director. The J Camps Inclusion Counselor will work 1:1 or 1:2 with a child or children with a range of physical, emotional, intellectual, developmental, or communicative disabilities enrolled in the J Camps Inclusion Program during the summer. This person will provide the support necessary for his or her assigned participants to participate safely and fully in scheduled programing, including swim. This person will encourage social interaction and positive behaviors in their assigned participant, as well as encourage a culture of inclusion and acceptance among all J Camps participants and staff. The J Camps Inclusion Counselor will need to maintain a positive outlook, be flexible, dependable, energetic, creative, and possess strong interpersonal skills.

The J Camps Inclusion Counselor will work from approximately 8:00am until 5:00pm (specific times depending on assigned duties) from June 17, 2019 until August 16, 2019. There are also opportunities to work additional hours during our Early Drop, Late Stay, or Post-Week Camp programs.

Work Environment:

The work environment is usually fast paced. This job requires high energy and interaction with children and staff as well as with members. The job takes place primarily outdoors.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, run, and swim. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and reach. In some instances, the employee is required to assist in crisis management techniques which may require the use of the employee's body in physical prevention positions. Additionally, the employee may have to assist with the transport of participants weighing over 50lbs. The employee may be required to assist with activities of daily living.
