Position Summary:

The Controller is responsible for directly overseeing all components of the finance and information systems.

This position does not directly supervise any employees, but does directs activities of the Account Services Manager, AP Accountant, and the Payroll & Benefits Administrator/Finance Manager. Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting or a related field from four-year college or university is required. At least five years of related experience at the management level is required; experience at non-profit with multiple programs quite helpful.

Previous experience and/or current skills must include: non-profit and fund accounting, knowledge of payroll practices and procedures; demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team; strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.

Certificates and Licenses:

No specific certificates or licenses required, CPA is preferred.

Computer Skills:

Excellent knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge and advanced Excel. Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Powerpoint desired. Prefer knowledge of, and ability to learn, other software used by non-profits and community centers, such as EZ Facility, as well as experience integrating various MIS systems.

Language Skills:

Ability to clearly communicate complex issues verbally and in writing to people with varying amounts of financial knowledge. Can effectively speak before boards, committees or employees of organization.

Quantitative and Reasoning Abilities:

Ability to create, follow and modify complicated spreadsheets. Excellent analytic ability to convert reported data into strategic information.

Adept at improving the status quo by developing, describing and implementing well-thought-out modifications to processes and procedures. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a multiple variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

The Stroum Jewish Community Center has been serving the greater Seattle Jewish and general community since 1949.
