Principal Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Head of Family Programming will oversee all aspects of children's and family programming at the Leventhal-Sidman Center in Newton. Program responsibilities include enrichment classes, the Magic Ark Performing Arts series, afterschool programming including Discovery Club, birthday parties, babysitting, and the Playspace. The Head will also provide leadership on the ways in which JCC Greater Boston supports and engages families and will be a key member of the family engagement team at JCC Greater Boston.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage children's' and family programming at the Leventhal-Sidman Center in Newton including but not limited to:

- Enrichment classes

- Magic Ark Performing Arts Series

- Afterschool / Discovery Club management

- Birthday Parties

- Babysitting

- Playspace

  • Collaborate with the Membership and Health & Wellness teams to deliver weekend drop-in programming / experiences for members
  • Under the supervision of the Director of FEJL, collaborate with the Regional Family Outreach Manager, and PJ Library Manager to implement a cohesive family engagement strategy.
  • Supervise Youth Programs Specialist / Director of Discovery Club. Provide leadership and strategic vision for afterschool programming.
  • Lead best practices for family program development and Jewish family engagement including pedagogical approaches and the cross-departmental partnerships required to deliver the highest quality family experiences at the Leventhal-Sidman Center.
  • Work closely with Newton Family Connector to design and implement programming that supports regional family outreach goals.
  • Work closely with Early Learning Centers, and in particular with the Godine JCC Early Learning Center in Newton, to support families. Create enriching programming and spaces that support family needs both during and out of school hours (i.e. The Playspace, Enrichment Classes, PT/OT, opportunities for family connection, events and more.)
  • Manage operations of the Family Wing including scheduling, facilities, maintenance, equipment and continuing to make it a high-quality, state-of-the-art, clean, safe, accessible, engaging space for families.
  • Collaborate closely with other business units to support and implement identified family programming needs.
  • Take a leadership role in designing resources and training to support front line staff on the needs of families at the Leventhal-Sidman Center.
  • Evolve and iterate family programming with annual assessment of program efficacy.
  • Manage budgets for all programming above, determine and measure revenue goals, with quarterly assessments.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Staff presence at large JCC and community events
  • Responsibilities are subject to change as the program and position evolve and is evaluated moving forward
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Qualifications/Position Requirements::

  • A collaborative and visionary programmer with exceptional experience developing youth and family programming, particularly for Jewish organizations
  • Leadership and project management skills
  • Exceptionally strong relationship builder capable of developing meaningful connections with families, children, and internal and external program partners; strong customer service skills
  • Familiarity with JCC Greater Boston programming, culture and mission
  • Desire to transform contemporary Jewish youth and family engagement
  • Passion for community building through informal and formal programming
  • Requires a creative self-starter that has capacity in creative program development, community engagement, and utilizing data to guide decision-making
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, flexible, and evolving environment with multiple stakeholders
