Principal Responsibilities:

The Parenting Center at the DBJCC is a multi-room sensory experience for children and their caregivers. Our center features a clean, safe play space for families with children 5 and under to visit on a daily basis that include; multiple rooms for dropin play, Jewish holiday celebrations, Baby & Me classes, and birthday parties.The Assistant Program Coordinator must have experience working with families with young children and live in the Federal Hill area of Baltimore or nearby.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Act as a connector to help foster a sense of community amongst families with young children living downtown.
  2. Sell DBJCC memberships and renewals, process registrations and welcome DBJCC members.
  3. Schedule, organize, and supervise birthday parties.
  4. Open, maintain and close play space daily so it continues to be a safe space for young children to use.
  5. Provide parent resource guidance when asked.
  6. Must be available mornings, occasional weeknights and weekends.
  7. Participate in agency training, staff meetings, supervisory conferences, committees and special events.
  8. Teach and/or Substitute in DBJCC classes.
  9. Help with special events.
  10. Knowledge of Jewish customs and holidays.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

The work environment is usually fast paced.This job requires high energy and interaction with staff as well as with members, other agency staff, community leaders, and outside partners.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch or clean objects, use telephone buttons to allow access into the building, talk and hear.The employee is frequently required to sit, stand and reach with hands and arms.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  2. Proficiency in Social Media utilization (Twitter, Facebook and website maintenance).
  3. Proficiency in database maintenance.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  5. Excellent communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to be a flexible team player.
  7. Upbeat personality.
